November 7, 2012,
In December 2010 the City of Miami District II offices, C.I.P. department & Coconut Grove Business Improvement District began discussions on sidewalk improvements and canopy restoration; we are pleased to announce that as of November 7, 2012 the hand selected, locally grown tree specimens have begun to arrive to Florida Ave.
All new tree planter locations are equipped with Silva Cell, a modular suspended pavement system that uses soil volumes to support large tree growth and provide powerful on-site storm water management. In addition to allowing the trees to grow more efficiently; stable & wider sidewalks with ADA compliance will be coming to Florida Avenue once the project is completed.
If you are interested in learning about this new technology, below is the link to Deeproot’s Silva Cell website.
