“The Perfect Family” Released On Demand This Month
While paperbacks are the medium of choice at the Bookstore in the Grove, this localmerchant has a connection to a just released Hollywood film. The Perfect Family, which was released earlier this month in limited theatres and stars Kathleen Turner, Emily Deschanel and Jason Ritter, was produced by Jennifer Dubin – a local Grovite and daughter of Bookstore in the Grove owner (and proud mother) Felice Dubin.
Chosen as the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival Official Selection and the 2011 OUTFEST Official Selection, The Perfect Family tells the story of suburban supermom Eileen Cleary (played by Academy Award® nominee Kathleen Turner) who has been nominated for the coveted Catholic Woman of the Year Award at her local parish, and only one final test remains—introducing her family to the board for the seal of approval. Now, as she finally faces the reality of the nonconformist family she’s been glossing over for years, her meddling reaches hilarious new heights in this heartfelt and honest dysfunctional family comedy.
Dubin is the co-founder of Present Pictures with partner Cora Olson. In addition to Perfect Family, she has produced the feature films, The Babysitters, starring John Leguizamo, Cynthia Nixon and Katherine Waterston which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and the 2008 Sundance selection Good Dick. Their latest film, I am I, is currently in post-production. Dubin attended Ransom Everglades School before moving to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She began her career working in film production on such pictures as Stepmom, You’ve Got Mail, Little Nicky and Knockaround Guys.
A limited release, many in Miami can catch the film On Demand or on DVD on June 29. For more information about the film, visit the official website at www.theperfectfamilymovie.com.
