Coconut Grove Arts Festival
The Coconut Grove Arts Festival® is a “Celebration of the Arts” across all disciplines, inspiring ones imagination for visual, culinary and performing arts. This three-day event each President’s Day Weekend transforms the picturesque streets of Coconut Grove into an artistic paradise where everyone from collectors to casual observers can meet talented artists from across the world and purchase one of their pieces of art.
It began in 1963 as an intimate “clothes line” art show featuring a handful of artists and a few thousand onlookers as part of a promotion for the Coconut Grove Playhouse’s production of Irma la Douce and now is considered South Florida’s most successful arts festival attracting an estimated 120,000 people.
The quality of the participating artists contributes to the Arts Festival’s continual recognition as one of the most prestigious fine arts exhibitions in the nation. And, its commitment to celebrating the arts 365 days of the year confirms the Arts Festival’s well established reputation as a central cultural institution in South Florida.
Produced by the Coconut Grove Arts and Historical Association, Inc., a non-profit community organization under the direction of a board of directors and full-time staff, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival® helps to help fund year-round arts programs within South Florida. The association also maintains the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery and presents special exhibitions throughout the year from its location at the Shoppes at Mayfair.
